RENATE WINTER
Judge. International expert on children's and women's rights.

Recognised as an expert in matters of juvenile criminal law, family law and children's and women's rights, especially in connection with armed conflicts. Renate Winter is a judge, an activist and a person who stands up for the rights of those who are the most venerable. She has been campaigning for children's rights for decades and she became the first Austrian woman ever to be elected to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Deployed to be part of the difficult reconstruction UN missions in Rwanda, Kosovo, then chair of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, she has been pivotal in diplomatic and just work. She has been awarded the Grand Golden Star by Austria and also Honorary citizenship by Georgia.
