OLHA VOLYNSKA
Journalist. Author. Documentary film maker
A powerful voice for human rights and dignity, Olha Volynska is a journalist, author, and documentary filmmaker from Ukraine. For over 15 years, she has exposed injustice — from war crimes to corruption — through fearless reporting and compassionate storytelling. As the founder of Human Rights Video Production, a civic organisation, she uses visual storytelling to promote human rights and amplify silenced voices. Her documentaries have been screened in 12 countries and shed light on the lives of those affected by war. Her books, including Art Against Artillery and Wie der Krieg uns verändert, explore resilience amid war. Volynska documents trauma not to shock, but to heal—and to celebrate the strength of the human spirit.

“There’s no armor against pain—if you have a heart, it will hurt, no matter where you are. But that’s what makes us human. My mission is to tell stories that matter—giving voice to the silenced, bringing the hidden to light, and transforming experience of trauma into a space for dialogue, action and support.”

“I trust Eleanor Roosevelt’s words: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Everything I do, I pursue with passion and dedication because I believe empathy has the power to connect people beyond borders, languages, and cultures. Especially in times of crisis, human connection is our strongest form of resistance.”
