With generosity, diversity, empathy, and cheeky forward momentum in our artistic work, we can offer a gift to people and shape our present.
— Chris Pichler

My artistic approach is strongly oriented toward acoustics, language, and music. This leads to the creation of solo performances about strong women, biographical works, live audio plays, song recitals, and librettos. I conceive and perform family concerts, among others at the Berlin State Opera, have directed an opera, and am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where I teach acting for singers.

Art, in its broadest sense, is a way of life for me. Ultimately, it is a path shaped by encounters with people — artists, presenters, cultural producers, and institutions — who are committed to repeatedly venturing into new territory, toward versatility, independence, openness, and equality.

What defines me personally is a sense of contrast: I am profound yet joyful, authentic yet open, energetic yet community-oriented.

I have always had a mind of my own and sought to break open boundaries — whether gendered, hierarchical, or societal. Thus, early on, I created my own works and roles, playing men as well as women or children. Truthfulness and authenticity, curiosity and precision are my driving forces.

I look forward to meeting artists who share similar paths and concerns.

I want us, through our artistic work, to shape a shared now — a meaningful present — and in doing so to overcome our societal differences.
